It was this that LED me to my focus on pre 和 postnatal fitness. I created the 适合木乃伊项目 与 the view to:
Supporting women to create a strong 和 healthy body after baby.
Providing positive 和 safe workouts that 将embrace the changes to their lives 和 their bodies.
Creating a way of moving that embraced mindfulness 和 a holistic approach to postnatal fitness.
My focus started 与 postpartum 和 as the 适合木乃伊项目 has grown 和 evolved, I am now beginning to include prenatal workouts 和 exercises.
您’re currently pregnant 与 your third baby, congratulations!
Thank you! I’ve had a lot of challenges 与 this 怀孕. I had quite bad 早上 sickness which I really struggled 与. My incontinence has been a lot 更差 this 怀孕 which is a combination of 怀孕 hormones, a weak pelvic floor 和 everything just being so stretched already!
Since I launched it last year, I have been amazed at how much 妈妈 have embraced this App! I think because it delivers high quality workouts direct to your phone 和它’s all aimed at 妈妈. I also wanted to make it accessible 和 affordable to everyone, so I think 妈妈 really appreciate that it’s a once off cost, rather than an ongoing fee.
As Mothers we are all incredibly busy 和 tend to put our needs last. 什么 are your top 3 tips to help women include exercise 与in their day?
Try to do it first thing in the 早上。
I add my workouts to my diary 和 try to do them first thing. I know that if I get started 与 work or housework, exercise often gets missed. I try to do it as soon as I drop the girls at school / kindy or as soon as I put them down for a nap.
The 营养木乃伊计划 will be a complete nutrition App for 怀孕, postpartum through to baby food 和 family friendly recipes.
Before falling pregnant 与 格蕾丝 I did discover I had the auto-immune condition
It was only after having a traumatic labour
One of the complications I suffered post-partum 与 格蕾丝 was my thyroid completely crashed 和 I was diagnosed 与 甲状腺功能减退. 在接下来的几年里,我努力 lose 我因甲状腺功能异常而增加的体重 but it 没有’不管我尝试了什么,我几乎都无法移动一些 grams and the weight 将creep up again.
I 将like to add that unfortunately the majority of mainstream medical practitioners do not treat patients 与 桥本 when their thyroid levels are still 与in range, when really this is the window of opportunity to prevent even further damage to your thyroid. If you have been diagnosed 与 桥本 I 将really recommend getting a second opinion or seeing an integrative practitioner for further support.
After getting to the point of despair I decided to go 和 see 杨敏博士 悉尼的一名综合医学从业者。
The results came back that I was insulin resistant again (the pre-cursor to diabetes) 和 my antibodies were extremely high 和 therefore so 将the inflammation in my body.
We decided that I 将follow 自动免疫古协议 减少我体内的炎症,希望‘reset’ my system.
Once my weight was down 和 insulin levels back to normal we wanted to focus further on my 肠道健康 to make sure everything was nicely balanced before conceiving. I did a 粪便微生物分析 (FMA) at Bioscreen.
现在我’m pregnant I’m on slightly different supplementation 和 one of the main differences is that this time around I’m taking a 益生菌 which I will make sure I take for the entire 怀孕 和 post-partum. I’m also having weekly 手风琴 sessions as I suffer from chronic back pain 和它’自从怀孕以来,情况变得更糟,韧带和骨盆疼痛也很多,我’ve对其提供了极大的帮助。
I 将love to know from the other Mums 在接下来的怀孕中,为了健康,您做了什么不同的事情。
I’m so excited to share this interview 与 the amazing 亚历克斯·斯图尔特of Low Tox Life. I’ve personally followed Alexx for many years 和 absolutely adore listening to her podcasts.
As many of you 将know Leila Masson博士 has made a huge impact on the success we have had 与 helping Grace get back on track 和 improving her overall 肠道健康, so I’m 非常 excited to share this interview 与 you all.
As an Integrative Paediatrician how 将you describe the main difference in how you treat patients compared to mainstream paediatricians?
My approach to children’s health, developmental 和 behaviour problems is to look for a treatable cause – so for example if a child 与 a diagnosis of ADHD spends hours a day on a screen 和 does not get enough outdoor exercise I 将address the child’s lifestyle first. Another big focus is nutrition – children who eat an unprocessed wholefood diet 与 plenty of vegetables, little sugar 和 no artificial additives are generally healthier compared to children who eat a standard Australian diet which is high in fats, sugar 和 processed foods.
什么 are your top three tips that parents can adapt to assist 与 good 肠道健康 in their children?
Not enough vegetables – 非常 few children get the recommended 5+ servings of vegetables per day. A serving is the size of the person’s fist – so a child should eat at least the equivalent amount of 5 times the size of their fist. Just doing this could prevent a lot of constipation, improve the gut flora 和 in the long term reduce the risk of bowel cancer.
So if you 将like to prevent allergies 和 sensitivities in your child clean up the diet 和 improve the gut flora.
Z. I have it, it’是一本很棒的书,如果您是每个父母的必读’对儿童的自然健康感兴趣!
I am mummy to a sensitive little tot who has many, many food allergies 和 intolerances.
My husband Scott 和 I have been on quite an eye-opening journey on our quest for health 和 healing.I’m thrilled to say that we have seen amazingly positive changes in my daughter’s health by overhauling our diets 和 lifestyle. The results have been slow but 压倒ly positive!
I have great hope that my recipes will help to nourish, comfort, 和 delight other families 与 similar struggles… especially the breastfeeding mummies 在那里,他们为自己的过敏和/或不耐受宝贝付出了很多。
My 怀孕 与 Lila was a mixture of joy 和 awe at the miracle taking place inside my body. I also spent much of this time concentrating my mind on positive birthing stories Much to my own scepticism I took a hypno-birthing course 和 did all the homework diligently.
Long story short, the birth was a dream come true 和 I even got to finish delivering my own baby!匆忙的 overwhelming love, relief 和 heady euphoria I held my baby girl for the first time, 和 all was right in my world.
Over the following hours 和 days my husband 和 I soaked up the miracle that was our ‘Daisy girl’, but slowly things began to unravel.
您 might be wondering what this has to do 与 my little girl.您 see, she was exclusively breastfed the entire time, so she was technically medicated too.
Her nappies varied from dark greeny brown to frothy fluro green 和 always had an unhealthy dose of mucous.
In the hours following her first vaccinations she developed a high pitched scream 和 level of distress that will haunt me forever. After speaking to a ‘nurse-on-call’ we ended up presenting at our local hospital 与 a nappy full of jelly-ish blood, 和 a floppy, unrousable child who 将suddenly burst into bouts of hysterical rigid screaming that could not be comforted.Unfortunately life 与 a newborn continued to be a high stress time in which our daughter suffered 和 we 将receive no answers.
At six months of age – 和 six months of numerous doctors, hospital visits, IBCLCs 和 Osteopaths – she continued to suffer from extreme sleeplessness (she 将wake in distress every 2-20 minutes *every single* time she slept), reflux, passing blood, gut lining, 和 mucous in nappies, extreme gastrointestinal distress, constipation, vomiting, 湿疹, 和 poor weight gain.
In the subsequent months we removed soy, gluten, eggs, nuts, 和 fish.Removing these foods made 非常 little improvement to her reflux 和 distress. At this point she was completely dependent on enemas to pass a bowel motion 和 her distress had my mummy heart in shreds.
During that time my mum mentioned a compounding pharmacy that made a product to help babies 与 “extreme unexplainable colic”.I promptly visited this pharmacy 和 spoke extensively to the pharmacist who referred us to their in-house Naturopath.
The Naturopath listened to our story attentively 和 gave us a clear plan forward.
This change in diet made the biggest, positive change for our Lila so far 和 she began to gain slightly more weight, her 湿疹 reduced, 和 her vomiting ceased.
Unfortunately I knew that things were still far from right 与 my little one 和 at 12 months of age I took her to see an Integrative Practitioner (both a qualified GP 和 Naturopath) 与 a special interest in 肠道健康 和 allergies. He also ordered a comprehensive stool analysis, multiple blood tests, 和 urged us to remove any preservatives 和 additives that remained in Lila’s diet.
The result from the stool analysis was rather alarming 和 found that Lila had an overgrowth of some particularly nasty bacteria. These perforations in the gut lining cause food proteins to leak out into the body (where they aren’t welcome) 和, to put it simply, allergies are born.Unfortunately, until we could heal Lila’s gut we were to expect more food sensitivities to appear 和 her symptoms to either stagnate or keep spiralling.
As 压倒 as this was to discover it was a relief to know a little about what was going on. Going against my gut, we proceeded 与 treatment. But the gist of what happened is that after 5 courses of antibiotics, 和 a child in an absolute world of pain, I pulled the plug on her treatment.一无所有 else to offer us our Doctor decided to take a ‘wait 和 see’ approach 和 I delved head-first into managing 和 treating what I call ‘Lila’s labyrinth’ on my own.
I kept a diary of what we ate, where we went, 和 how she was each day (sleep, poo, reflux, behaviour, sinuses, development, 和 skin condition). Lila began to gain weight, sleep better, her 湿疹 all but disappeared, she was able to pass bowel motions 与out assistance, 和 her reflux became manageable.
At two years of age we took Lila to a birthday party where she came in contact 与 dairy 和 soy.Over the next three days we watched a complete unravelling in the health 和 happiness of our little girl. Her reflux came back 与 a vengeance, as did her 湿疹.After much crying 和 complaining of a sore tummy she passed shreds of gut lining, blood, 和 mucous in subsequent nappies, but most terrifyingly she experienced a series of worrying episodes that I 将later learn were “most likely allergy-triggered absence seizures”.
This reaction resulted in a midnight visit to the Royal 小孩儿’s Hospital 和 a thorough assessment by one of today’s leading gastroenterologists.Relieved 和 nervous we felt that we 将*finally* get our little girl the medical diagnosis that she (and we) so desperately needed.
That her allergies are “real, alarmingly unusual, 和 may or may-not diminish as she grows”.It was concluded that the level of antibiotics 和 antifungals that she has received was essentially like an “atomic bomb to the gut” 和 we should expect improvement to be 非常 slow. Moreover she impressed the need to be “extremely vigilant” that Lila doesn’t come into contact 与 any dietary or environmental triggers, that is, until a controlled trial is scheduled in a few years time.
Our diet optimises healing foods 和 whole-body nourishment whilst also catering to the needs of the fussy toddler palate.
If she receives an allergen we fill her 与 preservative free organic prunes 和 plenty of filtered water.
She has regular magnesium salt baths to help her body 与 detoxification 和 all household products 和 toiletries are as clean, pure, 和 homemade as possible.
I manage this whilst I continue to read medical journals, papers, 和 research during the twilight hours.I’ve come to learn that education is key, especially in the area of 肠道健康 where the research is still rather new 和 many doctors are often fairly ‘green’ on the topic.
I know that for most of us mother’s time is scarce, BUT whenever you do find a little time, grab it 与 both hands, 和 read the latest literature out there.I’d also encourage you to keep an open mind to the 非常 powerful ability of food to be 您或您孩子的药。
Last of all I’d love to leave you 与 one of my delightfully allergy-friendly recipes.
This lovely little recipe is simple, quick, 和 perfect 与 a cup of your favourite tea.
This is how I’ve felt the past few weeks 与 Miss 格蕾丝’s niggly issues.
我发表论文后不久 格蕾丝’s Eczema I started to notice to my horror mild 湿疹 developing on the back of her legs 和 went into full mother panic mode!! I think I jinxed myself writing this piece!
Since completely clearing her 湿疹 nearly a year ago she’s never had a flare up and whereas 之前为什么有更明显的联系,这次 I’m totally baffled.
I’ve now stopped 给她的Mutaflor(帮助慢性便秘的特殊益生菌)几个星期,看看是否有效果,但到目前为止,似乎仍在 worse not better so I’我想到只是重新引入!
美食家感到她的肚子和 said that she was ‘very’ full of poo 和 that we 将need to clear her out.
当她的过敏测试回来时 negative, in 他的想法,他认为那里’t an issue 和 that it’这是巧合,并且与引入实体有关。 I knew this would
I did explain that our issues initially started when we transitioned to cows milk 和 that 与in hours of consumption she 将break out in hives, 湿疹 和 then the chronic constipation started.
所以现在 我们要等她下次检查 with 她的胃,看看她如何 eczema 然后去预订,看看综合医生与她目前的治疗计划一起工作 to try 和 get to the bottom of her current 湿疹 flare up.
以便’s where we are currently at, checking, waiting, hoping 和 writing food diaries!!
If you child is going through similar, come 和 connect over on my chat 和 support group.
我在跟可爱的卡拉 小美食家指南 the other day 和 mentioned that it’s 格蕾丝’s 3rd birthday coming up 和 that I’我正在寻找聚会上的食物创意,以便大部分(如果不是全部)食物都可以吃。
Kara has kindly provided me 与 some awesome ideas to share 与 the HGG community – amazing!!
同样重要– it’s all easy to prepare, fun, 和 colourful!
Berry 和 yoghurt ‘sundaes’ – layer berries 和 coconut yoghurt in little clear cups or glasses. Sprinkle some gluten 和 nut free granola on top.
Fruit skewers – put chopped fruit onto icypole sticks (or skewers for older kids). A little dipping coconut yoghurt, or tahini, or melted raw chocolate 将be fun.
Sliced fruit 与 nut or seed butter. Banana slices topped 与 almond butter, or apples 与 tahini.
幸福球 – there is an abundance of recipes out there, or start experimenting yourself 与 seeds, coconut, cacao, dates, dried apricots, chia seeds, coconut oil, cinnamon, sweet potato, 和 any other allergy friendly ingredients you have.
饮料
Mini smoothies – blend some dairy free milk, fruit, 和 vanilla extract. Pour into cute cups or bottles 与 colourful straws.
Water is all kids need but infused water is lovely special party drink. Fill a jug 与 water (still or sparkling) 和 add in fresh lemon slices, mint, cucumber, 和 strawberries.
Meatballs 和 dipping sauce – mix some beef mince 与 grated carrot 和 zucchini, roll into balls 和 pan fry. They can be served warm or cold 与 a lovely homemade tomato sauce.
Kale chips – pull the leaves off a bunch 和 coat in olive oil, add a little sea salt 和 pepper. Bake in the oven until crispy.
Roasted veggie chips – finely slice some sweet potato, pumpkin, 和 beetroot. Coat 与 olive oil or coconut oil, 和 bake in the oven until crispy.
Make it fun: Use individual pots or mini buckets the kids can take home 与 them, use cookie cutters to cut out fruit, use icy-pole sticks, 和 paper patty cases.
Don’t overcomplicate it: Kids are happy to eat almost anything particularly when they’re 与 other kids, 和 there’s lots of chaos 和 giggles. Relax, enjoy, 和 cherish this special day – your child is one year older.
我知道这赢了’t be everyone’s cup of tea to read, but when you become a parent things that never crossed your mind sometimes end up being your day to day worries 与 your child –提示我的生活吧!
I’我还没有在我的社交媒体帐户上真正公开提及过这一点, but the past few weeks have been 非常, 非常 difficult at our home.
I feel like we’每隔几天,她都会彻底治疗慢性便秘,’s becoming blocked and it’影响着一切,包括她的睡眠(我们没有’认为可能会变得更糟!)
She gets a flare up of constipation which obviously makes her uncomfortable 和 sore from straining 和 basically holds it in for the fear of being in more pain, which of course only makes matters 更差.
Initially when we first started seeing our current doctor she 说过 we could test her gut flora. We decided to wait 和 see if we saw improvements, which we did, 但是甚至在美食大战爆发之前,我们就已经开始达到平稳状态– 我现在认为这对她进行测试将是必不可少的。
All we can do now is hope 和 pray that her gut starts to settle down 与 the help of the prebiotic food I give her 和 the supplementation….. 和 roll on May!
I’m really interested in connecting 与 other parents whose child/children suffer from chronic constipation 和 the reasons why.
Here are a few tried 和 tested poses that may help your child 与 gut conditions:
甚至青少年也对此笑…in the end.
充分呼吸 – Make it fun by suggesting they are blowing their bellies up like balloons 和 then letting the air out. Anything working 与 the breath helps to relax the body.
放风姿势 – Lying on their backs get them to pull one knee into the chest, 与 the other leg out straight. Repeat the same on the other side. 您 can always make fart references as who doesn’觉得不好笑吗?
倒过来 – Kids do this naturally. Handstand anyone? But a simple downward dog (inverted V) or legs-up-the-wall are 非常 calming. They can do legs-up-the-wall by lying on their back 与 either feet flat on wall, or bottom up close to the wall 和 legs straight up the wall. Try playing some (soft-ish) music they like or reading them a book to keep them in position.
